Are you a quilter
who wants to make quilts that look like they are yours and not like everyone else’s?
who wants to learn about color so you can better choose fabrics for your quilts?
who likes choosing your own fabrics but can get overwhelmed at the quilt shop, and isn’t always quite happy with your final quilt? OR
who loves choosing your own fabrics and wants to know more about why some fabrics work together and why others don’t?
Conquering Color and Fabric was written for YOU.
Conquering Color and Fabric takes you through the basics of color, using a color wheel, color schemes, value and how it can enhance (or disrupt) your quilt, and fabric aspects such as stripes, polka-dots, small and large scale, etc. Much of the discussion is around how to make color and fabric work for you and your quilt. The book features lots of photos and sample exercises to help make the concepts real.
There is also a section of my real life quilts that demonstrate how I used the concepts - and how you can, too, and make quilts that you love even more.
The book has over 60 pages. Way more than the couple of pages at the beginning of a quilting book with great patterns, and way less than a college art class textbook. It has lots of photos and samples. The layout and text does not feel overwhelming, and people have called it “readable and manageable”. (When you’re talking about a book on color and value, that’s a compliment!)
How do you take what you’ve learned and try it out? The fourth section shows you how to put it all together.
You walk with me through an actual exercise, choosing fabrics for a quilt starting with finding an inspiration fabric. We go through the exercise again with the same inspiration fabric, this time using the concepts you’ve learned in the book to choose the fabrics. You can see how using the template The Dynamic Quilting Color and Fabric Plan™ can help you chart out what characterstics you want fabrics in your quilt to have and also devise your Shopping Wish List.
Conquering Color and Fabric is a book for quilters who want to enjoy choosing fabrics and feel more confident in the process. I hope you have fun learning more about color and fabric and making your quilts your own, so that you love your finished quilts even more!
Ask for Conquering Color and Fabric at your local quilt shop. They may need the book’s ISBN 9781734174410.
