2021 is the year of #NoMoreQuiltClones. I want all quilters to know how to make their quilts their own. You can grow your stash of choosing fabrics knowledge.
Size Matters - looking at scale in quilt fabrics
Smaller birds use flashes of color and speed to get noticed. Smaller scale quilt fabrics can use color, value, and other fabric characteristics, such as intensity and distribution to draw your eye. A quilt can use scale alone or in partnership with other fabric qualities to reach the feeling and design of the whole.
Facing the Fear of Polka Dots and Stripes
Are you afraid of polka dots? Do you fear the thought of using stripes in your quilts? The words “polka dots” always makes me smile and stripes have so many possibilities – they can be narrow, wide, random, squiggly or straight, multi-colored or simply two colors.
I find that polka dots and stripes work in much the same way when used in a quilt, even though they are so very different in visual appearance.
